Ze and Milagro were adopted – very locally – this morning, and Gideon, Hannah and Briosa were picked up, so just Pinon, Baylee, Iya and Liberty went on to Canon City. Fran Ackley told one of our NMA/CO folks that this was the best adoption in three years.

We have tentative word that all the horses that initially went to Canon City have been spoken for.
I’ve had word already about Sage and Cuatro (adopted together, and Hannah and Briosa are joining them) Varoujan and Rio, and all of them are doing very well and settling right into their new homes. The adopted foal is doing amazingly well – Ze joined him this morning.
If anyone is interested in Pinon (3-year-old colt), Baylee (4-year-old mare), Iya (3-year-old mare) or Liberty (2-year-old filly), get in touch with me, and I will put you in touch with Lona Kossnar at Canon City (or contact her directly). Each horse’s certificate that I made went with Lona, and it will stay with them if you adopt that horse.

Thanks for keeping us updated! I desperately wish I could adopt Liberty but that would be a challenge as I live on the opposite side of the country…I do hope she finds a wonderful home!
Yay! I was concerned about Milagro. Getting bays without significant markings adopted can be tough, no matter how sweet they are. Liberty is in the same boat. I can’t believe Baylee didn’t go. She’s 4, but that shouldn’t be a problem for anyone with horse-handling experience. Maybe age was an issue for Pinon as well. People really go for youth … the younger the better! I can see why Iya wasn’t adopted straight away. She looked so skinny and listless. But I talked with a number of people outside her pen, and we all said the same thing: given good food, time, and REST, she’ll be fine. So now there are essentially 4. I have a gut feeling the FINAL Final Tally will be even better than this one!
For us, GREAT news about Sage, Cuatro, Hannah and Briosa being adopted together! If we had the proper room and experience, we would have taken them in a heartbeat (at least two of them)! Hope someone takes another look at the others!
If all the horses that initially went to Canon City have really found loving homes, all we can say is FANTASTIC and THANK-YOU to all!!
Wow… I feel a lot better now! It’s such a relief all these precious horses have found homes!
